Seed Saving Strategy and Seed Stand Development in the Nore / Suir/ Barrow Catchment .
If you are a landowner interested to host a seed stand, a farmer registered for Agri Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) or a landowner with a stand of remnant woodland we would love to hear from you. Over the coming months and years we will be collaborating with farmers who are registered with Agri Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) to develop tree planting initiatives which support seed stands for future forest restoration based on local provenance seeds.
The Acorn Project is currently working with Local Authorities Water Programme to create an ambitious strategy towards forest restoration in the Nore Region.
The Acorn Project has established a working group to develop a Seed saving Strategy for the Nore Region. We are working with technical experts, stakeholders and landowners across the region to develop and implement a strategy to safeguard local provenance seed for future forest restoration projects.
Our GIS mapping project is surveying stands of native woodland stands which may prove crucial in safeguarding our future forests.
