We would like to invite residents of Kilkenny City to participate in our apple tree planting initiative in Kilkenny City to help us create a shared vision to restore orchard gardens in our city. Keep Kilkenny Beautiful are distributing 250 apple trees this Spring.
Fruit Trees can be planted by communities or in private gardens.Planting apple trees is a positive climate action for humans and pollinators. Planting apple trees promotes biodiversity and promotes more sustainable food systems. All of the apple trees are sourced from Future Forest and grown from heirloom heritage varieties carefully chosen by the Kilkenny Fruit Tree Project.
Please register your interest to be added to the list to receive apple trees from Keep Kilkenny Beautiful. We will endeavour to get Rees to all interested but cannot guarantee.
After registering, you will receive an email a week before collection with date and pick up ( A Saturday Morning) You will also receive guidance on how to prepare the soil and a video with instructions on how to plant.
We would like to track the progress of the apples and will ask participants to send us a photo of their apple tree once planted and another photo of your tree when it gets it’s first apple.
Any contributions made to the project will go towards buying apple trees to run the project again next year.
